MLK Day of Service

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a time set aside each year, where we as a country, work together, serving others, to make our communities more equitable.  We annually observe this day each year on the third Monday in January.  As the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service, MLK Day encourages all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

Dr. King was the driving force behind watershed events such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the 1963 March on Washington, which helped bring about such landmark legislation as the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and is remembered each year on Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as a pillar in our society and his legacy is cemented in our nation’s history. His heroic actions and powerful message have inspired so many and will continue to serve as an inspiration for generations to come.

The event is finished.
